LA RESIDENCIA
MAJORCA
We’ve only actually stayed at the hotel itself once but spent many glorious afternoons in the restaurant.
I don’t think there can be a better day than when we anchor our boat in the beautiful Cala Deia Bay and head past the Ca’s Patro March restaurant, otherwise known as the Night Manager because of the famous scene from the series, to await the hotel courtesy car which takes you up the steep windy road to the hotel.
Once we arrive a couple of drinks in the local hostelries are followed by the usual boozy lunch in the beautiful garden restaurant where copious amounts of Whispering Angel are consumed with whichever of our friends happen to be in tow that week.
The journey back can be eventful depending on the bottle count and on one famous occasion one of our older and shall we say rather overweight friends decided they were going to swim back to the boat which was about 500 yards out. Luckily, the Captain was both sober and alert so no life was lost and the sight of him being ceremoniously dragged behind the tender holding on to a rope like a beached whale will live with me forever.
Wrighty, as he is known was unperturbed but having finally, with a lot of help, got on to the platform he then promptly fell over and seriously gashed his leg requiring immediate hospital treatment. At this stage we didn’t see the funny side. Make an effort to go if you are anywhere near.
