BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL
LOS ANGELES
We first stayed here together in 2003 although I had been there with my old boss a couple of times previously. The word iconic is often overused but this hotel truly is, and it never changes. It doesn’t need to. The Polo Lounge is the centre of the action both during the day and at night where people watching is at its best. Sharon is always intrigued but probably annoyed by the bevy of skinny models adorning the arms of men old enough to be their grandad! The great and the good of Hollywood used to assemble here every year after the Oscar’s and there is a famous painting by Peter Max depicting one such scene from the 80’s hanging in the bedroom. A free bottle of champagne awaits anyone who can name everyone in it!
When it comes to location, it’s a brisk 15-minute walk to Rodeo Drive, where you can inflict serious damage to your credit card rather too quickly. We love it and can’t wait to return.
